The Ultra Punch® 3 Needle set comes with the ergonomic blue punch needle tool, 3 interchangeable needle tips (small, large, and a medium tip installed), two threaders, one open spring (for large needle), and a detailed instruction book. The handle is specially designed to prevent hand fatigue when punching and has adjustable loop heights that set this punch needle apart from the rest!

Still have some questions? More about the tool below:

  1. Three Different Needle Tips: These tips can be switched out depending on the thickness of thread or yarn you plan to use. Each needle is a different diameter to accommodate different thread sizes.

  2. Threaders (long thin wires): These help you pull thread through the hollow needle. You’ll insert the threader from the tip of the punch needle through the handle, place your thread in the loop of the threader, and then gently pull it back through.

  3. White Gauges or Needle-Stoppers: These small plastic pieces help set or lock the depth of the needle for consistent loop height.

  4. Instruction Booklet: This booklet likely contains step-by-step instructions on how to thread the needle, adjust loop length, and troubleshoot common punch needle issues.

General Tips for Using the Ultra Punch Needle:

  • Threading: Slide the wire threader through the punch needle from the tip until it exits at the top. Place your thread in the loop of the threader, then pull it back through the needle. You may need to also thread through a small hole near the needle tip, depending on the design.
  • Loop Length Adjustment: The needle handle often has a dial or number settings (1–12, for example). A higher number setting produces longer loops, while a lower number creates shorter loops.
  • Fabric Choice: A tight-weave, sturdy fabric (like weaver’s cloth) is commonly used. It should be held in a non-slip hoop or frame for proper tension.
  • Technique: Punch the needle straight down into the fabric until the handle almost touches, then lift it just enough to move to the next stitch without pulling the loops back out. Move the needle tip only slightly above the fabric surface between punches.
  • Thread Tension: Keep a little slack in your thread so the loops don’t pull out. If the thread is too taut, loops can unravel.
